This page describes how authors can use an article DOI when they upload data to simplify the process of describing the related publication.

Overview

Dryad enables authors to enter an article DOI on the second screen of the submission system, instead of typing in the article's bibliographic details (Volume, Number, Year). This simplifies and expedites the step of describing the article, and ensures that the details are accurate.

Instructions

The second screen of the submission system enables the author to describe the publication associated with the data files. Below the box for the Abstract, the author can enter the article DOI. Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are character strings (like doi:10.1371/journal.pbio.0030014 or doi:10.1136/bmjopen-2011-000155) and are used to uniquely identify an article or other digital object. Most scholarly publishers assign DOIs to each article in their journals, and display them with article citation.
