This page describes how to use an article DOI during the data submission process.

Overview

The Dryad submission system enables authors to enter an article DOI on the second screen of the submission system, instead of typing in the article's bibliographic details (Volume, Number, Year). This simplifies and expedites the step of describing the article, and ensures that the details are accurate.

Instructions

On the second screen of the submission system, the author is asked to describe the publication associated with the data files. Below the box for Abstract, the author can enter the article DOI. (DOIs, or Digital Object Identifiers, are character strings (like doi:10.1371/journal.pbio.0030014 or doi:10.1136/bmjopen-2011-000155) and are used to uniquely identify an article or other digital object.) Most scholarly journals assign a DOIs for each article, and display it with the article citation in both online and print versions of the article.
